Gennaro "Gerry Lang" Langella was a made member of the Colombo crime family, a part of the wider Italian-American Mafia, eventually rising to the role of underboss of said family, a position which he occupied from 1981 to 1994. Langella was also briefly the acting boss of the Colombo crime family from 1983 to 1984.

The following is Gennaro Langella's obituary published in the Staten Island Advance on December 19, 2013 -

"Gennaro Langella, 74, died Sunday in Springfield, Missouri.

He was born and raised in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn, and moved to Staten Island in the late 1970s, settling in Annadale.

"He was very good-hearted, generous, and helpful to family and friends," said his niece, Donna.

Mr. Langella enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family, she added.

Since his youth, he worshiped at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in Brooklyn.

Surviving are his son, Vincent; his daughter, Leah; his brothers Vinny, Jimmy, Raymond, and Carmine, his sisters, Margaret Russo and Antonette Stropoli; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Saturday from the Colonial Funeral Home, New Dorp, with a mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church in Brooklyn.
Burial will follow in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn.
