Son of William Dunham (1816-1870) and Elizabeth Swain (born 1831). Grandson of William Dunham, Sr, (1783-1840) who is buried in Effingham County, Illinois, and his wife, Mary Fisher (1788-1861).
Obituary ~ "Mr J. W. Dunnam, aged 30 years, passed from this world Wednesday, October 23, 1901, of sloe fever, at his home near Herndon, Ark. Although his suffering was long and intense, he bore it with patience and said he had no doubts. A wife, two sons, and two daughters are left to mourn his loss. Weep not, dear ones, for your loss is his eternal gain, and may God's grace be sufficient for you in your bereavement, and may the family be united around the great white throne." ~ (unknown Arkansas newspaper, October, 1901)
