Mass Card: Mary "Betty" Elizabeth Fox was born November 9, 1926, on the family farm in Delaware County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Sadie (Burke)Woods. She grew up in the area and graduated from Randalia High School in 1945. On November 29, 1945 she was united in marriage to Sheldon Fox at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fayette, Iowa. Betty helped Sheldon with the farming as well as raising their five daughters. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, playing cards but most of all she enjoyed her family.

Betty leaves behind her husband, Sheldon; her four daughters, Pat (Veryl)Burghardt of Sumner, Iowa, Peg (Keith) Schlatter of Hawkeye, Iowa, Becky Fox of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Bobbi Fox of Cedar Falls, Iowa; son in law, Jim (Cindy) Nefzger of Lansing, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Gene) Gleason, Aaron (Liza) Burghardt, Neal Burghardt, Katy Burghardt, Angie (Jeremy) Hundley, Heidi (Neil)Wilkinson, Derek (Amy) Smith, Shelby Rieks, Garrett Rieks and Kinsey Keding; seven great grandchildren, (and one on the way very shortly), Brendan and Sean Gleason, Rylee and Drew Hundley, Maeley and Nile Smith, and Tate Wilkinson; a sister Margaret Henry of Fayette, Iowa; three brothers, Tom(Carolyn) Woods of Oelwein, Iowa, Jim(Pat)Woods of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Leo(Judy)Woods of Dyersville, Iowa; plus many nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her daughter Debra Nefzger; a great-granddaughter, Sadie Smith; two brothers, Don (Lola Jean) and Paul (Carolee) Woods; and her parents, John and Sadie. A memorial fund has been established in Betty's name.
