Ella Harriet McCurdy was born in Harrison County, a daughter of Cyrus and Elizabeth Lauver McCurdy, she spent most of her life in Dennison. She married Bert Pettay on December 14, 1899 in Tuscarawas County. They had one son, Joseph E. Pettay, born September 23, 1900 in Uhrichsville, Ohio. Ella was a charter member of the Methodist Church. At the time of her death, she was survived by her son, and three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and three sisters. Ella was a charter member of the Methodist Church.
