Donald Edward "Duck" Knuth, 71, Minot, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at his home.

Duck was born Aug. 19, 1942, in Drake, the son of Charles and Lizzie Knuth. He was reared on the family farm near Balfour and attended Strege Country School and later Drake Public School. Duck married Mary Rossiter on Dec. 15, 1973, in Wheeler, Wis. The couple recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Duck started working for the Soo Line Railway in 1963 and later retired from CP Rail in 2000. Duck was a lifetime member of the Local 1481 Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. Duck enjoyed calling and talking to his family and friends on a daily basis. In his spare time he loved to fish and garden and spend time with his grandsons.

Survivors: wife, Mary; son, Donald "Donny" Jr., Minot; grandsons, Tegan and Brekken Knuth, both of Minot; stepson, William Micheels, White Hall, Wis.; stepdaughter, Debbie (Paul) Christopherson and their daughter, Rozlyn, Twisp, Wash.; sisters, Arlene Olson, Crosby, Videll Kuebler, Minot, and Carolyn (Dalip) Gupta, San Gabriel, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service: Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Faith United Methodist Church, Minot.

Visitation: Friday, Dec. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial will take place on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Balfour Cemetery, Balfour.
