Florence R. Gospodarek, age 93, a resident of Manitowoc, died peacefully on December 16, 2013.
Florence was born on August 14, 1920 in Francis Creek to the late Charles and Otillie (Seidl) Stransky. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1937. During World War II, Florence worked at the Manitowoc County Draft Board, of the Selective System, as a secretary. On May 7, 1942, Florence married Adolph J. Gospodarek in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1987. Florence enjoyed her flower garden and playing Bingo. She also did sewing, crocheting and counted cross-stitch for her family and friends until she became visually impaired due to Macular Degeneration. Florence was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Manitowoc.
Survivors include Florence's two sons: William (Sandra) Gospodarek, Manitowoc; and David (Chris) Gospodarek, Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren: Daryl (Ellen) Gospodarek, Rosemount, MN; Dawn Curran, Manitowoc; Dale (Jenna) Gospodarek, Kenosha; and Andy (Jennifer) Gospodarek, Raleigh, NC; 12 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; also other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Otillie Stransky; brother and sister-in-law: Frank (Clara) Stransky; and three sisters and one brother-in-law: Adeline Stransky, Clara (Ernest) Schroeder, and infant sister, Evelyn.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand, 1416 Grand Avenue, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Tom Wojciechowski, OFM with burial to take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.harriganparksidefuneralhome.com
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home & Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
