OBITUARY

Mrs. Martha Horn - Graves was born in the state of Ohio, June 22, 1853, and died at Turon, Kansas, March 23, 1913, aged 59 years, nine months, and one day. She was married in the year of 1878, to Mr. E.J. Graves and was the mother of eight children five sons and three daughters, one son preceding her to the spirit world, dying at the age of fourteen months. Mrs. Graves came with her husband to the state of Kansas, during the year of 1887 and settled in Meade Co. and after several years of residence in Meade they moved to Kingman Co., making that place their home for seventeen years and then moved to the city of Turon, their present home.

Mrs. Graves was converted in early life to the Christian faith and ever afterward looked to the Son of God as her Eternal hope and placed her trust in his keeping, believing that in that day God would bring her into the fullness of the Christian's inheritance. Mrs. Graves was a faithful wife, a kind and loving mother, sacrificing much for her children.

There remain to mourn her death the husband and seven children, which are Jay P., Mrs. Hattie Walters and Lula of Turon, Mrs. Tillie White of Medicine Lodge, Edwin Roy of Saint Louis and Otto of Kingman, besides four grand-children and many friends.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Byers, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Turon Cemetery.

[Note: Not mentioned, brothers, John Carnahan Horn, Peter C. Horn, Simon T. Horn and sister, Isabelle M. Prosser, all still living in Colorado at the time at the time.]
