This same obituary gives other pertinent information about him: "Captain Edward Everett Dodson, well known Chesapeake Bay waterman and a former member of the Cambridge Police force....born and reared in Northumberland Co., Va.....very adept as a "rigger" in the days of sailing ships throughout the Tidewater sections of the Eastern Coast...served several years as an officer of the Cambridge Police Force...Firm and positive, yet considerate of all, Captain Dodson made an excellent officer, and served in the position with honor and dignity...Although of a quiet, unassuming nature, he readily made friends, and his integrity and high principles commanded the respect of all who knew him...He was a member of St. Paul's M.P. Church and the Men's Bible Class of that church, and was always regular and punctual in his attendance, at all church services."
