Flemming was the spelling in Germany, the family dropped one "m" in America, but their mother's headstone at Rosen, MN has the double "m". parents were: Johann Flemming and Rosa LIETZ, from Flotenstein, Germany, this area given to Poland in 1946. Their father died in Germany,

the first of this family to emigrate to Ortonville, MN ( who did they know?) was brother Joseph, then Mary came next to work for his employer, Henry Karels, whom she married. Next was married brother, Frank, his family and she must have come with them as mothers helper then returned to Germany because later 1897 she, brother, Peter and mother, Rosa emigrate together, mother living until death with Married daughter, Mary Karels, on the Karels farm by Rosen, MN.

1900 Adams, Grant Co. SD are newlywed couple of 2 years with 11 mo old Grace, lists 1897 as emigrate year, Franks brother, Joseph, lives with them, farming

1920 Waverly SD- the couple with children Eliz, Daniel, Rose, have general store.

Until 1940 census they have general store

Death Record #3.4.5761; BP #20; age 68 yr. 3 mo. 12 days. Died of cancer of the uterus.
