Nellie or "Nel" was born in Sandpoint Idaho, to Bruce and Mary Driggs. She was the sister to 10 siblings. She met and married her husband, H Nielsen while he was studying at the University of Idaho. He came home with her brother on break, and they spent the rest of their lives together. After a tour in Germany, where her first child was born, she moved with her husband to Homedale Idaho; to the Nielsen homestead where she raised 5 kids, and numerous foster children.

She was active in her local Parish, St Hubert's, for many years as an Eucharistic minister. She provided home care for the elderly and ill. She loved to read and crochet. She crocheted hats and slippers for the homeless every year. Most of all, she loved people, and loved to build them up. Aunt Nel, Grandma, Mom, Sister; she always had a good word to say, and love to give. She always believed the best in everyone. She lived in modest comfort, yet always said she was the richest person on earth. She had a truly grateful heart, and touched many people during her life.
