Funeral services for Rev. Cecil W. Barnes, 61, of Lazy Lane were held Friday afternoon in the Chapel of the Kerrville Funeral Home with Dr. T. J. Youngblood of San Antonio officiating. Interment was in the Garden of Memories. He passed away May 23 in the Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital.
Born in Stillwater, Okla. Nov. 6, 1911, he had lived here the past three years. He was a government employee for 33 years and a minister in the Christian Church 13 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Kerrville Optimist Club. He had been listed in "Who's Who of the Southwest." he had ministered churches in Uvalde, Lampasas and Cleburne. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Patty Babb of Tyler, Mrs. Barbara Luiz and Mrs. Beverly Hidy, both of San Antonio, and Mrs. Ginger Gates of California; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Woolworth of Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Esther Moore of Stillwater, Okla., Mrs. Mary Edith Wing of Plymouth Falls, Ore., and Mrs. Marchela Eldridge of Oklmulgee, Okla. ; two brothers, Dale Barnes of Houston and Robert Barnes of Eugene, Ore.; and 10 grandchildren.
