Dea. Josiah Chatfield. Son of Samuel Chatfield Jr. father of Eli and Lyman Chatfield.

Deacon Josiah Chatfield was one of the first settlers of Greene Co., NY where he owned a farm in Windham in the Catskill Mountains. He resided there until 1833, when he came to Michigan and located on 160 acres in section 35, Raisin Twp. He died there in 1849, being born in Waterbury, CT. 10 Dec 1775. He married Olive (perhaps Tuttle or Tucker) born in Woodbridge, CT. 24 Feb 1773, and died in Raisin, 20 Aug 1854.

Josiah is mentioned in the Connecticut list of Rev. War soldiers as having served in the 2nd Reg., Connecticut Line, and is also mentioned as a Rev. War pensioner of 1818 pension # S37837.
