SOUTH BEND - Beverly Lou Babbs, 75, passed away at 7:41 AM Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at her home. She was born on January 4, 1938, in South Bend, IN, to the late James J. and Lula Bell (Little) Cauffman. On March 13, 1954, in South Bend, IN, she married Roy Eugene Babbs, who survives. Along with her loving husband, Roy, she is also survived by her daughter, Barbara Lou Babbs of South Bend; two sons, Elmer "Bud" (Judy) Babbs of South Bend and Ronald (Diane) Babbs of Grovertown, IN; stepson, Joseph Beal of Mishawaka; her niece who she raised like a daughter, Gertrude (Michael) Edmonds of South Bend; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; her stepsister, Sharon (Cauffman) Strasser; and many nieces and nephews. Her sister, Delores Lewark, and five brothers, Elmer Cauffman, James Cauffman, Chuck Cauffman, Bud Cauffman and Ken Cauffman, all preceded her in death. Beverly was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She attended Lydick School and New Carlisle High School. Beverly worked as a seamstress for Koszegi Industries and previously groomed dogs. Beverly was a great cook and canned food from their garden. She enjoyed traveling and fishing. Beverly dearly loved all her family and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Pastor Reed Anderstrom, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to services on Saturday in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Beverly Babbs may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 3001 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46628.
