William J. Breitbarth, oldest son of Theo Breitbarth and his wife, was born August 11, 1891, in Caledonia Twp. and was baptized Sept. 6, 1891, also confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Germantown on April 16th, 1895. He was married to Louise Schroeder on November 18, 1917. The deceased with 25 others of this community was called to the Colors, July 23, 1918, to Camp Gordon, Georgia. The message of death was received here November 21, 1918. He died on October 7, 1918, overseas. Cause of his death being the Flu. His age was 27 years one months and 26 days. He leaves to mourn his death his wife and child, his parents, four brothers and one sister and many friends. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon in the Lutheran Church at Germantown convicted by the Reverend FW Potratz. Six of his comrades acted as pallbearers and many others gave him honor.
