Paul Earl Porter, 80, of Plano, Illinois passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born July 5, 1928 in Hinsdale, Illinois the son of Earl and Esther (Roth) Porter. He married Suzanne Groves on August 25, 1950 in Hinsdale, IL. Paul graduated from Hinsdale High School and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University. He served as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He was an avid painter, golfer, and swimmer. He enjoyed playing the piano and loved all animals. Paul's career was in advertising and he retired as owner of Porter Advertising in Chicago, IL.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne of Plano, IL; one daughter Susan (Dennis) Moss of Plano, IL; four sons, Paul "Steve" (Edith) Porter of Idaho Falls, Idaho, James (Kathy) Porter of Plano, IL, David "Bill" (Teresa) Porter of Oswego, IL and Dan (Ken Rafowitz) Porter of Minneapolis, MN; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Dave (Gail) Porter of Prospect Heights, IL and three nieces and one nephew.
Visitation was Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home, 3952 Turner Ave., Plano, IL, with a celebration of Paul's life. Burial followed in Butler Cemetery, Oakbrook, IL. Memorials may be directed to The Open Door Rehabilitation Center in Sandwich, IL or to The Alzheimer's Association. Doings-Weekly, The from Oct. 2 to Oct. 9, 2008.
