Mr. Guy Richard (Shorty) Cabeen, Sr., age 91, of Crockett, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 in the Whitehall Nursing Center. Mr. Cabeen was born September 10, 1922 in Houston and had lived in Crockett for several years. He worked for Gas Compressor Services in Traverse, Michigan and also for Blue Water Maintence in Houston. Mr. Cabeen served 10 years in the United States Navy. He was a charter member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church and currently was a member of the Central Baptist Church.

Mr. Cabeen was preceded in death by grandson, John Richard Bird, sister, Catherine Hildebran and wife, Belva Cabeen. Funeral services for Mr. Guy Richard (Shorty) Cabeen, Sr. will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Central Baptist Church with Rev. John Goss officiating.

Intermet will follow in the Latexo Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund or Heart to Heart Hospice.
