Irene Parham, 76, born Hazel Irene Whitehead in Pleasant Hill, N.C., to Franklin Guy Whitehead and Grace Hall Drewitt, passed away Sept. 11, 2001. Irene graduated from Seaboard High School, worked for Western Union, Southern Bank of Norfolk and for many years as an orthopedic secretary at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital. She was a member of St. Andrews Methodist Church and was very active with the United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Parham is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Preston Ashford Parham; her daughters, Karen Foster of Dayton, Ohio and Dianne Johnson of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Lee Seibert. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
