Hollywood Screenwriter. Wrote or collaborated on the screenplays for such movies as "Kismet," "The Front Page," "Mutiny on the Bounty,"(Marlon Brando Version), "Ocean's Eleven," and "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." He began writing in 1931 after giving up his journalism career and continued writing until 1963. He was survived by his widow Anne Shirley, his son Daniel D. Lederer, and his stepdaughter Julie Payne.
