Of Colonial Beach, Va. on June 16, 1989 at Mary Washington Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Nichols was born in Frederick, Md., March 2, 1906 and was a railroad inspector of the Old D_ Transit Co.

He was a member of the Colonial Beach United Methodist Church, The Lions Club of Colonial Beach and the Methodist Men's Club.

He is survived by his wife, Janelle E. Nichols of the home; one granddaughter, Mrs. Rebecca A. Davis of Bethesda, Md.; one grandson, Robert C. Algers, III of Keedysville, Md; two great-grandsons, two brothers, Harold M. Nichols of Berkeley Springs, West Va. and Charles Bernard Nichols of Bethesda.

Service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 21 at Colonial Beach United Methodist Church followed by interment George Washington Cemetery, Adelphi, Md. Rev. Robert Lawrence officiating. Pall bearers are men of the Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20 at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach.
