George Roderick Burke was the youngest child of Michael Burke of Ireland and Catherine Noonan of Ireland. His older siblings include: an unnamed child who died in infancy, Mary A Burke, Margaret "Maggie" Rose Burke, Catherine "Katy" A Burke, Ellen Burke, an baby who died in infancy, Michael F Burke, Elizabeth "Lizzie/Lillie/Lulu" S Burke, and Joseph Merwin Burke. Tragically, most of George's siblings died at a very young age of Tuberculosis.
George Roderick Burke was the husband of Mathilda "Tilly" Christina Holm. Family says that Tilly and George met when they both fled onto the same boat to escape the fires that raged through San Francisco in the aftermath of the 1906 Earthquake. They married on 11 February 1912 in San Francisco. Tilly and George were the parents of seven children: James Edward "Ed" Burke, Martin "Marty/Monty" Raymond Burke, Georgina "Gena" Maria Burke, Joseph "Joe" Herbert Burke, Robert "Bob" Roderick Burke, Stella Catherine Burke, and Dolores "Daye" Barbara Burke.
George spent the last year of his life hospitalized at Weimar Sanitorium, a hospital that specialized in caring for patients with Tuberculosis. George died at the age of 55 of Tuberculosis.
Note that the birth year on George's headstone is wrong. It incorrectly states that he was born in 1880. Multiple records confirm that George Roderick Burke was born in 1879.
