Esther Frelich, 90 of Kyle, Texas formerly of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the St. David South Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas.

Esther Frelich was born August 18, 1922 in Anamoose, ND. She was the daughter of Jakob and Katherine Dockter. She attended the North Dakota School for the Deaf where she met her future husband, Philip Frelich. She then graudated in 1942 and they married a year later. They farmed in rural Devils Lake for several years before moving their growing family into the town of Devils Lake. There, Esther worked as a seamstress at Majestic Clearners for 20 years and then at the North Dakota School for the Deaf for 15 years.

In addition to raising nine deaf children, Esther loved being with people. She was active within her community. She was a recipient of the Unsung Hero Award by the citizens of Devils Lake in 1996. She served as treasurer of the North Dakota Association of the Deaf and served on many committees. She also assisted Philip in his photography business.

After 63 years of marriage, Philip passed away On December 2nd of 2006 and Esther moved to Ham Lake, MN to live her daughter Shirley and her husband, John Egbert. They all moved to Austin, TX last year to be near other family members before Esther passed away.

Esther is survived by her nine children, Phyllis Frelich-Steinberg and husband, Bob of Los Angeles, CA; Dennis Frelich of San Diego, CA; Merrill Frelich and wife, Margaret of Swartz Creek, MI; Shirley Egbert and husband, John of Kyle, TX; Peggy Camp Brandt and husband, Dave of Minnetonka, MN; Timothy Frelich of Jessup, MD; Priscilla O'Donnell and husband, Michael of Olney, MD; Pamela Campbell and husband, Paul of Eldersburg, MD; Daryl Frelich and wife, Naja of Adamstown, MD; eighteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and her youngest sister, Ruth Ammons of Anamoose, ND.

Esther was preceded in death by her six older siblings, David, Magdelena, Jacob, Christopher, Ottillia, Daniel and Albert.

Funeral Services for Esther will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Devils Lake.

The family requests donations to Chronic Disease Fund, 6900 North Dallas Parkway Street- Plano, TX 75024.
