Eurilda "Nona" Menesses Alfonso passed away on Monday, December 7, 2009 at the age of 80. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her life. She is the cherished wife of Herman "Dut" Alfonso Sr. Loving mother of Myrty A. Mendoza (Willard Guillot III) and the late Herman Alfonso Jr. Daughter of the late Elizabeth Pabst Menesses and Adam Menesses. Sister of the late Irwin Menesses, Merlin Menesses, Pearl McMillan, Majorie Molero, Ruby Apuzzo and Elsie Ansardi. Proud grandmother of Jarret Mendoza, Devin Anne Alfonso, Simone Selson; and great grandmother of Bailey Selson. She is also survived and fondly remembered by her special friend, Kressler Mahoney, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Nona was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish where she was a dedicated parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a member of the Los Islenos Heritage and Cultural Society. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who loved to cook and truly treasured her family. To know her was to love her. Her smile so sweet, and kindness was all she knew.
Relatives, friends and employees of St. Bernard Parish District Attorney's Office are invited to attend an evening visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Wednesday, December 9th from 6:00PM – 10:00PM.
Visitation will also take place on Thursday morning at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2805 Bayou Rd., St. Bernard, LA from 9:00AM – 12:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 12:00PM.
Burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
