George Phillip SCHUCHMANN, Jr. (1876 – 1939), was orphaned at an early age. By the time he was three years old, both of his parents had died. He was adopted, although there are no known formal adoption documents, by Alexander C. and Margaret REAGAN and his name was changed to George Phillip REAGAN. Alexander’s wife, Margaret, was his Great Aunt (from the Dooley family of his maternal Grandmother). He is listed in the 1880 Federal Census in the household of Alexander REAGAN as George P. REAGAN, an adopted son. He is buried in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah. His birth parents are both buried in Savannah - his father in Laurel Grove Cemetery and his mother in Catholic Cemetery, also known as Cathedral Cemetery. The exact location of his father’s grave in Laurel Grove is unknown and the grave of his mother in Catholic Cemetery is unmarked.
