Moe Scudder founded the first motorcycle sales and service shop for Suffolk county in 1925, handling primarily Harley Davidson and Indian Motorcycles. Having the Suffolk County Police dept. as his biggest account provided a comfortable living for his large family through the depression years. Each of his children, on their 16th birthday, were given their choice of motorcycle from the showroom floor. Known as "A diamond in the rough", Moe was a beloved member of the community. During the hard times of the early 1930's, Moe and his wife Minnie would regularly provide hot soup for area residence.
He was a founding member of the Huntington Manor Fire Dept. marching band. As a large man of 6'8" 280lbs, he played a custom made tuba designed to fit around his shoulders.
The length of his funeral procession was almost 2 miles long. It was remembered that as the hearse crossed Jericho turnpike in south Huntington, the last vehicle was passing under the train trestle in Huntington station.
