George was born in a small house near his father's post office in Osnabrock. Mrs M.E. "Grandma" Douglas, a local midwife, assisted with the birth.

Following his mother's death, after childbirth to another sibling, in November 1925 his father, older brother William, and George moved in with his older married sister Ella (Storie) Mukomela in nearby Langdon.

George completed his education in Langdon before joining the Civilian Concervation Corps (CCC's) planting trees as wind and snow breaks across the flat Dakota prarie.

By 1943 he answered America's call to join the Army. Stationed at then Camp Rucker in Alabama he trained as a combat medic. He was assigned to the 110th Medical Battalion, 35th Infantry Division.

After the war he eventualy found his way to Chicago where he later met and married Arlene Mitchell.

He was survived by his wife, son, daughter in law, 3 grandchildren, and two brothers.
