Mr. Johnny Davis "Jay" Coleman, 75, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Wesley Long Hospital.

Mr. Coleman's funeral will be held Monday, January 6, at First Baptist Church of Summerfield with Dr. Richard Odom and Rev. Roger Barricks officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

A native of Pender County, Mr. Coleman was born on January 14, 1938, the son of the late Lindsey and Iva Lee Batson Coleman. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Summerfield. He was retired from A-1 Rentals and was a shuttle driver for Terry Labonte Chevrolet following his retirement. Jay enjoyed fishing and oystering, and had just completed building a boat. He loved fishing at the coast with his son, Dale. Jay was one of those guys that had the mechanical knack for being able to fix almost anything. He served proudly in the US Navy and always looked forward to attending reunions of the USS Colonial.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Lynda Auman Coleman of the home; son Dale Coleman (Vicki Agee) of Stokesdale; daughter Debra Coleman of Arizona; and a brother Robert Coleman of Hampstead and numerous nieces and nephews.
