In February,1942 Hattie relocated to Baltimore, Maryland and joined The Southern Baptist Church under the Leadership of Reverend Nathaniel Higgs. Hattie later became a member of the Senior Usher Board and served as a Supervisor of the Junior Ushers Board. Hattie was employed as an Custodian at the Church, a position she dutifully upheld until the end. On occasions of being overlooked or taken for granted, Hattie never complained but continued to serve vigorously and gave of herself unselfishly, knowing that she was working for GOD'S GREAT KINGDOM. Hattie's favorite spiritual was "I'm A Soldier In The Army Of The LORD".
GOD, Our Father, who doeth all things well, maketh all things work together for the good of those who love HIM, called His servant to her Eternal Reward on Wednesday, May 23,1979 at The Church Home Hospital.
