On December 15, 1952, Officer John P. Adragna, DSN 0017, received his commission and entered the academy for the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. After graduating from the academy, he was assigned to the following districts and specialized divisions throughout his career. They were the 4th District, Traffic Safety Division as a Traffic Safety Officer, then as a Tri-Car Officer, the Police Academy as an Instructor, and finally, he was assigned to the Planning & Development Division. When Officer Adragna retired on January 11, 1980, he had completed 27.07 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Officer Adragna was also a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II, achieving the rank of Technician 5th Grade, which is a Corporal.

Beloved husband for 65 years of Verena F. Adragna (nee Hoerchler). Son of the late James V. and Angela (nee LaFata) Adragna. Brother of Angela (Stan) Blazer and predeceased siblings Rosalie Verducci, Joseph D. Adragna, and Norma Galati. Our dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

John was a friend to many veterans of World War II, and law enforcement officers of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

John was a veteran of World War II and served in the China-Burma-India Theatre 1943-1945. He is a retired member of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, serving from 1952-1980, and member of American Legion Post 208 and Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6274.

Services: Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 9, 2014, at St. Clare of Assisi, 15624 Clayton Rd., Ellisville, MO 63031.

Visitation Wednesday, 4-8 p.m., at O'Sullivan-MUCKLE Mortuary, 13996 Olive Blvd., Chesterfield, MO 63017.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church preferred.

Interment at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
