As the story goes, their son Tom was one of the youngest engineers on the NP railway. He came to his mother and said he was in love with a Mexican woman. She, being a stereotypical Irish mother, threw a fit. He walked out the door and was never heard from again. Mom remembers her grandmother rocking on the porch at night and crying for her "Tommy". There's some NP records at MHS but they are hit and miss. Never found anything on him. Will likely remain a mystery. [Contributed by great-granddaughter Nancy Grell.]
