Alfred was born in Phoenix, Michigan to Cornish immigrant parents Richard and Mary Jane (Rowe) Moyle. He was the oldest of eight children; his younger siblings were Loretta, Edith, Alma, William, Arthur, and Richard Howard. The family suffered a major loss when father Richard died in 1888. Alfred was just fifteen years old.

After reaching adulthood, Alfred held a variety of occupations, including that of copper miner, fireman, shipping dock supply clerk, and fuel company laborer.

Alfred married Emily Jane Broad on September 19, 1895 at Opechee Location. The marriage produced five children: Clarence, Alvin, Melva, Ethel, and Isabell.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter June Irene Moyle, sister Etta Schaafs Parsons, and brothers William Charles and Arthur Moyle.

Surviving were his children and many grandchildren, brother Richard Howard Moyle, sisters Edith Anthony, Alma McCormick, Eliza, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also the grandfather of Marie Bernice Moyle, Ed Johnson, Robert Moyle, Ramona Jane Johnson, and several others who are not listed on this website.
