He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 47 years, Myrna Dudley; his children, Julia & Robert Desmond of Colorado, Brian & Cathy Dudley of Spring, and Jennifer Goodman of Georgia; his grandchildren, Connor Desmond, Cameron Desmond, Abrianna Desmond, Leighann Dudley, Rebecca Dudley, Andrew Goodman, and Stephen Goodman; his brother & sister-in-law, James & JoAnn Dudley of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Springfield, Ohio, Dick moved to Lima, Ohio, in 1938. He considered Lima his home town. Richard graduated from Ohio State University, in 1954, with both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Chemical Engineering. Immediately upon graduation he fulfilled his 2 year military commitment in the US Army Corps of Engineers. Richard retired from Amoco International Oil Company after a 37 year career. Richard was known for his gentle sense of humor that could defuse most tense situations. He felt he had a sacred calling as a business man; the work he did enabled men of third world countries to have jobs that allowed them to provide for their families. His proudest business accomplishment was determining the economics that resulted in the building of the first anhydrous ammonia fertilizer plant in India, which resulted in a better way of life for the people there. In retirement, Dick was the first chair of AmoCARES (now BP Volunteers), he delivered meals on wheels, and he enjoyed his volunteer work with AARP Tax Aide, both as an instructor and tax preparer.
