Lillian Ruth Corgan

Cambria - Lillian Ruth Corgan, 102, of Cambria, left this earth peacefully for her heavenly home on Friday, January 3, 2014, at her granddaughter's home in Peotone. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Sinking Fork Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, with Pastor Mike Williams officiating and burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville. Memorial contributions may be made to Cambria Christian Church or to the V.F.W. Hyde-Pillow Post 1301 in Marion. She was born on December 28, 1911, to Harry Garner and Wortha Golden (Smith) Wortham in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

Lillian lived in Marion and Cambria and was most recently staying with family in Peotone. She also worked for many years in Chicago, and returned to southern Illinois in 1980, following her retirement from the Sunbeam Corporation.

In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Carl Corgan; son, Ronald Gene Corgan; daughter, Doris June Corgan Wright; son-in-law, Lesley Wright; son, Clifton Ray Corgan; granddaughter, Sandra Kay Pearce; and grandson, Cole Corgan.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Billy Dale and Cheryl Corgan of North Port, Fla., Barbara Sue and Don Douglas of High Springs, Fla. and James Carl Corgan of Karnak and his good friend, Charlene McBride, who was a loving caregiver for Lillian for many years; brothers, Lawrence Wortham of Cambria and Robert Wortham of Carterville; daughter-in-law, Shirley Corgan of Maricopa, Ariz.; and more than 65 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Lillian was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Cambria.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many. She was a wonderful seamstress and gardner and loved working with her hands. She enjoyed reading, and continued her pursuit of knowledge even when she was well past the century mark in age. Most of all, she loved to laugh, a trait that served her throughout her incredibly long life.
