HARTFORD - Irene R. Gilliland, 83, died at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, 1995, at her home.
Born in Robinson Nov. 4, 1911, she was a daughter of the late Alvie O. and Ettie (Arthur} Sparks.
She was a pediatric nurse for St Joseph's Hospital in Alton for 17 years, retiring in 1977.
She married Elbert J. Gilliland Jan. 25, 1930, in Olney. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchifdren; two brothers; and a sister.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Gilliland, and two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. David Cox will officiate.
Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, St. Louis Unit, or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
