Betty Morgan Baker, aged 86, of Greenport, NY and New York City, died December 24, 2013.

A graduate of Holton-Arms School, Wellesley College and Columbia Teachers College, she was a longtime teacher of English as a Second Language.

Family members said Ms. Baker leaves behind many friends and former students as well as members of Greenport Shakespeare Club. They also mentioned that she was a great fan of opera, theater and ballet and cared deeply about social causes and animal welfare.

Ms. Baker was predeceased by her husband, Charles, and is survived by his daughters, Mary E. Baker of New London, CT, and Susannah C. Baker of Shrewsbury, MA, and their families.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A celebration of Ms. Baker's life will take place at a memorial service at Orient Congregational Church. Interment will take place privately at Sterling Cemetery.
