William James Burns, 89, died Monday afternoon at his home, 1840 33rd Ave. S.W., after a long illness.
Born in Cobden, Ont., he had lived in Calgary for the past 37 years and was a carpenter by trade, retiring in 1935.
Surviving are his wife, Julia; a daughter, Mrs. F.J. Bigmore, Vancouver; a son, Edward J. Burns, Peoria, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
