Lt. Stripiing first joined the United States Navy in November of 1943. He was eventually promoted through to the Officer ranks (Mustang) to the rank of Lt. by direction of the President. He retired in April of 1957. He was both a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran. He saw service at the US Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL; Brooklyn Navy Yard; US Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, Georgia; and the US Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island.
