He was a graduate of Pratt Institute (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with degrees in chemical engineering, and was a chemist with American Viscose. Mr. Bolster was the founder and operator of Bolster's Poultry Farm in Roanoke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Eliza Kennedy Bolster; two brothers, and a sister.
Surviving are his wife, Leonora Trout Bolster; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mel Davidson, Bellingham, Wash.; four sons and three daughters-in-law, David A. and Suzanne Bolster, Durham, N.C., William H. and Laura Bolster, Roanoke, Hugh T. and Caroline Bolster, Beaufort, S.C., Herman K. Bolster, Virginia Beach, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside, Cocke Family Cemetery at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Jan Fuller-Carruthers officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hollins Rescue Squad,7401 Barrens Road, N.W., Roanoke, VA. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel.
