Paul was the son of William Melvin Tillman and Hollie Davis Tillman. He was a Lt. Commander in the US Navy and served in WWII. He spent 23 years in the Navy's air arm before retiring from the service. He was engaged in the water business in an arid area of California at the time of his death. He died from injuries received in a automobile accident. He is survived by 2 sons Paul, Jr. and Bruce Tillman.
