Richard M. Cubitt, 78, of 50 Venango St., Franklin, died at 9:12 a.m. Sunday in Franklin Regional Medical Center. Born May 22, 1908, in Franklin, he was a son of Albert and Lena Brown Cubitt.
He attended the public schools in Bullion and Franklin, worked as a truck driver for Daniels Transfer Co. for several years, then for 15 years as a machinist at Franklin Steel Co. During the 1920s, he served with the Army in Hawaii. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a life member of Franklin Lodge, IOOF.
He was married on June 23, 1934, to the former Geneva E. Davis, who survives, with a son, Robert M. Cubitt of Oil City; four grandchildren, Mrs. Tammi Lacina, David Cubitt and Angel Cubitt, all of Oil City, and Duaine Cubitt, serving with the Marine Corps at Camp LeJeune, NC; and one great-grandson. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were a great-grandchild and several stepbrothers and stepsisters.
Services will be in Huff Chapel with Rev. Jackson A. Gabany, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery.
