Gertrude Brokaw Bowman was born in South Bound Brook, New Jersey on 6 Dec 1883. She was the daughter of Charles Richard Brokaw and Lurena Runyon. She married Charles Wadsworth Bowman on 6 Sep 1905 in South Branch. They had one son, James Bowman (1907-1999).

Mrs. Bowman was employed as a lab assistant at American Cyanamid in Bound Brook until she retired in 1954. She was a member of the South Branch Reformed Church.

Mrs. Bowman died on Thursday, 15 Aug 1968, at the Foothills Acres Nursing Home in Neshanic, New Jersey. She is buried at the South Branch Reformed Church Cemetery. Her husband, Charles, with whom she is interred, died in 1954.
