Doris Christine Brown Glover, 70, entered into eternal rest at her home in New Canton, Virginia, on Friday, November 29, 2013. She was born on February 11, 1943, in Arvonia, Virginia, to the late James C. Brown and Christine Fleming Brown. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur W. Brown and John C. Brown. Doris joined the New Hope Baptist Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until her death. Doris worked for the Buckingham County school system for 50 years in a variety of roles. She drove the school bus, served as a substitute teacher, counselor, nurse and cafeteria aide. She spent the majority of her time working out of Gold Hill Elementary School until her retirement in 2012. Survivors include her husband, James M. Glover; three daughters, Jacqueline C. Glover, Charlotte M. Glover-White and John, and Marvinette Palmer and Sentell; one grandson, Gavin Palmer; two sisters, Joanne Kimble and Michael, and Lisa P. Brown; four brothers, James A. Brown, Lester L. Brown and Denise, Freddie E. Brown and Thomas F. Brown; a devoted friend, Emanuel L. Harris and his children Emanuel Harris and Philomena, and Shearico White and James; three sisters-in-law, one devoted, Mary S. Brown, Clara M. Glover and Nora L. Glover; two brothers-in-law, Furman W. Glover Sr. and Curley J. Glover and Brenda; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in New Canton, Virginia, with interment in the church cemetery. Reid's Funeral Home of Dillwyn, is in charge of service.
