Frances E. Overman, 89, of Lyons and formerly of Switz City, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2003, at Lyons Health & Living Center. Born May 17, 1913, in Lyons, she was the daughter of Gless and Julia Belle (English) Deckard. She graduated from Switz City High School and from Indiana State Teachers College and then taught elementary school for 32 years at Switz City, Lyons, Mackville, Ky., South Linton and Linton, retiring in 1978. She also worked with her husband as a minister's wife and was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Orell Overman of Switz City; three sons, James Overman of Millersburg, Ohio, Joe Overman of Lyons, and Jerry Overman of Louisville, Ky.; two daughters, Jean McLean of Millersburg, Ohio, and Joyce Lyon of Louisville, Ky.; brother, James Deckard of Crawfordsville; sister, Viola Flint of Springfield, Oho.; 22 grandchildren; and 21 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral service will be at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ at 2 p.m. on Tuesday with Brothers Bryan Whitehead, Dick Lewis, and Jerry Carmichael officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemtery.
