Donald K. Angell, who from 1956 to 1971 had served as vice president and assistant to the president of the University of Pennsylvania, died Tuesday in Philadelphia. He was 73 years old.

For several years after his retirement, he was the senior vice president of the University of Pennsylvania Foundation Inc. He served as director of Philadelphia's Convention and Tourist Bureau, the Philadelphia Civic Center, the Gladwyne Fire Company and the Bellevue-Stratford Company.

He is survived by his wife, Madelon; three children, Donald K. Jr. of Philadelphia; Stephen of King of Prussia, Pa., and Margaret Griffith of Westtown, Pa.; three stepchildren, and two brothers, Marion of Ocala, Fla., and Kenneth of Houston.
