Derby, KS - Ernest Mervin Woods was born in Emerson, Nebraska, April 22, 1881, the son of James and Mary Anne Bousfield Woods. He died in the Augusta Medical Complex August 22, 1973, at the age of 92. He had been in failing health the past year.
He was married to Anna Belle Hemphill December 29, 1909.
To this union were born Leon, Harold, and Jimmie. Mrs. Woods preceded her husband in death August 7, 1969, and Jimmie on March 25, 1945.
Mr. Woods was a member of the Derby Prebyterian Church, and of Douglass Masonic Lodge #151, AF&AM. He received his 50 year pin from the lodge several years ago.
He is survived by two sons, Harold, of the home, and Leon of Mulvane; two grandchildren, Patty of Renton, Washington, and Leon Jr. of Wichita.
Services were held at Senter Mulvane Mortuary at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 24, 1973 with the Rev. Harold Steinbach officiating.
Masonic Graveside service was held at the Douglass, Kansas cemetery.
