Nancy Laura Perry Johnston,99,of San Antonio,Texas,passed away on Nov.4,2005.Nancy was the eldest of five children born to parents,James Franklin Perry III,and Adelia Hanson Perry.She was a descendant of Moses Austin.Her great-great-grandmother,Emily Margaret Austin Bryan Perry,was the sister of Stephen F.Austin.Nancy graduated from Angleton High School,and Texas Presbyterian College,which later merged with Austin College in Sherman,Texas.After graduation,she taught elementary and high school in Angleton,Texas.On July 6,1932,she married Murray L.Johnston Sr.Murray`s 40 year career with Gulf Oil Corp. took them to Lake Charles,Shreveport,and New Orleans,Louisiana;Tampa and Tallahassee,Florida.Nancy was preceded in death by husband,Murray L Johnston Sr.;parents;sister,Sarah Perry Bullock;brothers,Neil Turner Perry;James Franklin Perry IV;and William Burnett Perry.Survivors include her two daughters,Mildred J.Jones;and Carol J.Crochet and husband,Wayne;son,Murray L.Johnston Jr.(Just passed in Aug.2012)and wife,Anne W.;eight grandchildren;and nine great-grandchildren and other loving family and friends.Final arrangements are entrusted to Porter Loring Mortuaries,1101 McCullough Ave.,San Antonio,Texas.(800)460-2704.(210)227-8221.Source:The Brazosport Facts Newspaper,11/09/2005Nancy Laura Perry Johnston died peacefully on Friday, November 4, 2005 at the age of 99. Nancy was the eldest of five children born to James Franklin Perry, III and Adelia Perry Hanson Perry of Freeport and Angleton, Texas. Nancy was born on August 23, 1906 in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a descendant of Moses Austin. Her great-great-grandmother, Emily Margaret Austin Bryan Perry was the sister of Stephen F. Austin. Nancy graduated from Angleton High School and Texas Presbyterian College which later merged with Austin College in Sherman, Texas. After graduation, she taught elementary and high school in Angleton, Texas. On July 6, 1932, she married Murray L. Johnston, Sr. Murray’s 40 year career with Gulf Oil Corporation took them to Lake Charles, Shreveport and New Orleans, Louisiana; Tampa and Tallahassee, Florida. Nancy and her husband retired to San Antonio in 1973 and were active members at Northwood Presbyterian Church. Nancy loved her church, her church community and friends, which included bible studies and activities with Church Women United. Nancy was also a lifetime member of the Grand Chapter of Texas Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Johnston was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Murray L. Johnston, Sr.; her parents; her sister, Sarah Perry Bullock; her brothers, Neil Turner Perry; James Franklin Perry IV and William Burnett Perry. Mrs. Johnston is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred J. Jones of Baytown, Texas; Carol J. and Wayne T. Crochet of New Orleans; and her son and daughter-in-law, Murray L. Johnston, Jr. and Anne W. Johnston of San Antonio; grandchildren, Alva Merle Jones, Jr. and wife, Laurie, Nancy Louise Hollenback and husband, Brian; Murray Lloyd Johnston, III and wife, Ann Thomas; Roy Austin Johnston, William David Crochet and wife, Selena; Stephen Louis Crochet and wife, Nicole; and Laura Marie Crochet; and nine great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
