John Lewis Haney was born at Batavia, New York, August 6, 1856, and is a son of Thomas and Margaret (Clancy) Haney. The family came to Kewaunee county, Wisconsin, in 1858, and settled on a farm in Kewaunee county, but the parents later moved to Manitowoc county, where both passed away. They were the parents of three children: Michael C., who is deceased; John Lewis; and Mary, a resident of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. On February 27, 1889, Mr. Haney was married to Miss Laura Grimmer, daughter of George Grimmer, deceased, who was a pioneer sawmill man of Kewaunee, where he settled in 1858. Two children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Haney: Olga and Ruth.
