Civic leader. Born and educated in Hartford, she trained as a hairdresser and later became the State Board Examiner of Cosmetology. She was Southington's representative in the state General Assembly from 1955 to 1965 and was once the acting postmaster for the Plantsville Post Office. She saw her reputation as the "community matriarch" solidified when she succeeded her husband as town clerk in 1965. She would easily win re-election (most of the time unopposed) until her retirement in January 1993. Mrs. DePaolo also earned her real estate license and became certified to continue the insurance agency founded by her late husband. She was active with numerous community organizations. For her years of service, she was awarded the 1988 UNICO Gold Medal of Honor. In her honor, a bench with an accompanying plaque sits at the main entrance to Southington Town Hall.
