Aldora E. Hustad, 98, of Elkader, died Friday, January 10, 2014, at the Guttenberg Care Center. She was born February 26, 1915, in Otter Tail County, MN to Tosten and Karen (Brekke) Hagen. Aldora was baptized April 4, 1915 and confirmed November 17, 1929, both at Elbow Lake, MN. She graduated from Elbow Lake MN, High School with the Class of 1933, and then attended business school for two years.
She was united in marriage to Oliver Arthur Hustad on May 30, 1937, at Milbank, SD. Four children were born to this union. Aldora and Ollie lived in the West Central Minnesota area until 1953, when they moved to Iowa. After a few years at Armstrong and Cresco, IA, they moved to Elkader in 1966. Soon after the move, they joined Bethany Church in Elkader, where she remained active when health permitted. Aldora was librarian in Elkader for a number of years, she loved to read and the library was a very important part of her life. Aldora was very proud of her Norwegian Heritage, she had a strong faith and her family would tell you that she was a very important influence on them throughout the years. Her chocolate chip cookies were a family favorite.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, David Allen, in infancy and John; a daughter, Karen Bailey; four brothers, Norlin, Amos, Truman and Lavern Hagen and four sisters, Myrtle Lysne, Blanche Johnson, Lyla Strehlo and Judith Hagen.
