Forrest N. Snow, 91, of Irving, Illinois, passed away Dec. 27, 2013, at Hillsboro Area Hospital.
He was born Nov. 24, 1922, in Irving to Frank and Jessamine (Norvell) Snow.
He attended Irving Grade School and Irving High School then graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1940.
He served in the U.S. Army in WWII from Feb. 1943 to Dec. 1945. In 2011, he participated in an Honor Flight to Washington, DC. After his discharge from the Army he entered into an apprenticeship with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Union #982 in Detroit, Michigan. He had attained lifetime membership in the Union and in 2011 was honored by his Local as its longest standing member with 65 years of service.
He was a Master Mason for 62 years and was a lifetime member of the Irving Masonic Lodge #455.
He had been on the Irving village board for 14 years and had been Chief of the Irving Fire Department.
He married Charlotte Schooley in St. Louis in 1942. She preceded him in death in 2000.
He married Donna J. Pyatt in Peoria in 2003 and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter Dale Snow of Joliet; two sons Harry "Jody" (Rita) Snow and Scott (Jean) Snow of Irving; one stepson Robert(Jill) Waldheuser of Carrollton and one stepdaughter Andrea (Matt) Cummins of Carrollton; 5 grandchildren, Tara (Jeremy) Walk, Daniel Snow, Jessamine (Taylor) Blackburn, Dora (Steven) Kennedy, Rebecca (Nathan) Grimm and 7 stepgrandchildren, Mallory and Robert Waldheuser, Courtney Waldheuser, Dylan Barnett, Madelyn, Nathan and Ian Cummins; 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Velma Kilday, Hartford, CT, Helen Land, East Peoria, and Lois McReynods, Peoria.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Charlotte, brother Harry Snow and sisters Marilyn Snow in infancy, Frances Merry, Wilma Tomamichel, and Faye Swisher.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan 2, 2014, from 5-6:30 p.m., Irving Masonic rites will begin at 6:30 followed by a memorial service at Hough & Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Randy Sands officiating.
Burial with full military rites will be Saturday Jan 4, 2014, 10 a.m. at Elmwood cemetery in Litchfield.
