Austin, 61, the husband of Mrs.
Priscilla Austin, the society
editor of the Skaneateles Press.
Mr. Austin died Saturday in
St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse,
after a short illness. He was
a manufacturer's representative
until his retirement two years
ago.
Born in Enosburg Falls, Vt,
Mr. Austin was a communicant
of St. James Episcopal Church,
a member of the Skaneateles
Masonic Lodge 505 and the
Charles H. Piatt chapter, of the
Royal Arch Masons 247.
He and Mrs. Austin have
lived in Skaneateles for 25 years
and have resided, at 48 Jordan
St. They also have a summer
place on the lake near New
Hope.
The services were held in the
Dell Funeral Home with the
Rev. J. Austin Wilcox, nephew
of Mr. Austin, officiating. Burial
was in Lakeview Cemetery.
Masonic services were held in
the funeral home Monday evening.
In addition to Mrs. Austin,
he is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. David (Jill A.) Butler, of
Homer, and Mrs. Richard (Gretchen
A.) Sweeney of Cortland,
a son, Charles R. Austin Jr.. of
Liverpool, and six grandchildren.
He is also survived by two
brothers and two sisters: Mrs.
John Slack of Syracuse and
Mrs. Harold Wilcox of Mannsvilie;
Hubert E. Austin of Skaneateles
and Frank Austin of
Rockport, Mass.; and several:
nieces and nephews.
Bearers, were: Dr. John Vickery,
Daniel Huntley, Harlow Pattat,
Charles R. Austin Jr., David Butler,
Richard Sweeney, Carlton Badman and Terry
Slater.
